This Radiolab video, called “Words,” is pretty inspiring and illustrates all the ways our language links concepts together. With pictures and music, (almost no speaking at all), this little video conveys just how complex and meaningful a word can be. No wonder we have trouble communicating sometimes.
When someone says something and you feel the impulse to respond right away, take a moment to reflect and ask them what they mean. You may be surprised to find out that there is more to the story or statement than you thought.
